The IP Group have recognised The Fold Orphanage as part of their Socio-Economic Development aspect of their BEE portfolio. The Fold is an orphanage 60km outside Lephalale. It is a Children’s Home founded in 2009 by Paul and Micky Prince. The concept is based on an idea first tried out in Sweden, which was a series of small houses for the children, not a "block". Each house accommodates between 6 - 8 children of different ages and the children are looked after by a house mother.

Paul and Micky spent a lot of time researching orphanages and children’s homes in South Africa and found that some were just places of "storage". They wanted to help children in need and create a loving, caring environment which the children, throughout their lives, would regard as home. The first house, named Ruth House, was ready in summer 2010, then following a thorough search for good house parents, the first children were welcomed into The Fold by Christmas of that year. At present, the first house is bursting at its seams, and we are just preparing to open the second house, named Michael House.

The IP Group became involved in the Fold in 2011 when they helped donate toward the orphanage by way of installing various sanitaryware for them, this included baths, basins, shower floors and geysers. This is an on-going project for The IP Group and we are proud to be a part of such a giving and wonderful organisation.
